The
Palio Remiero is one of the most famous events in
Cavallino Treporti.
The 12 contrade that make up the Cavallino area challenge each other to a typical Venetian rowing competition, where rowers stand up in their vessels and row down the canals.
The Palio Remiero takes place on the second Sunday of June and is a true celebration of sport and tradition.
Typical lagoon crafts such as
caorline,
gondolas and
mascarete take part in the challenge. The mascarete are generally used by women.
The Palio Remiero follows an itinerary along the San Felice Canal, past the Forte Vecchio and then follows the Pordelio Canal, with a route of around 11 km of atmospheric beauty,
At the end of the regatta, the winner will be awarded the "palio", a painted cloth, according to lagoon tradition.
