Duna Verde

Caorle's garden beach between pine forest and dunes, quiet and family-friendly

Duna Verde is a seaside frazione of the municipality of Caorle, developed between the 1960s and 1970s as a modern, orderly resort: it lies between Eraclea Mare to the west and Lido Altanea and Porto Santa Margherita to the east. The beach is golden sand, fringed by a pine forest and the dunes typical of the upper Adriatic, with a quiet atmosphere designed for families. From Jesolo it is about 20-22 km, 25-30 minutes by car via Eraclea.

Getting there from Jesolo

By car

From Jesolo Lido, in summer the most direct route uses the Cortellazzo pontoon bridge (toll), which crosses the Piave at the mouth: from there you continue along the riviera towards Eraclea Mare and Duna Verde. When the bridge is closed (off-season or during floods) you go inland via Jesolo Paese and Eraclea: about 20-22 km, 25-30 minutes.

By bus

In summer, seasonal ATVO lines run along the riviera between Jesolo, Eraclea Mare and Caorle, with stops towards Duna Verde; an urban bus service links Duna Verde with Porto Santa Margherita and Caorle. Year-round the reference hub remains San Donà di Piave.

By bike

In summer, using the Cortellazzo pontoon bridge (toll) to cross the Piave, cyclists follow the riviera towards Eraclea Mare and Duna Verde on a shorter route. Off-season, the classic route follows the Piave embankments from Jesolo Paese towards Eraclea and then the riviera to the Duna Verde pine forest: about 25 flat kilometres between river, countryside and pine woods.

The beach of Duna Verde

Duna Verde's beach is wide, golden-sand and gently shelving — perfect for children. Behind it stretch a pine forest and a belt of dunes protected by the regional forestry authority, one of the few remaining coastal woods in the Caorle area. The town layout is recent and rational, the atmosphere quiet and residential: no showy scene, plenty of green and calm. Besides the concession stretches there are free areas, and the whole Caorle coastline, of which Duna Verde is part, has been awarded the Blue Flag for years.

Things to do in Duna Verde

Duna Verde is mostly about relaxing: beach, walks and cycling among the pine forest and dunes. A few minutes away are Porto Santa Margherita, with its marina, bars and seafood restaurants, and Lido Altanea. Caorle's historic centre — Venetian lanes, cylindrical bell tower and the Madonna dell'Angelo sanctuary — is about 8 km away, while to the west you quickly reach Eraclea Mare with the Laguna del Mort. For children there's the Aquafollie water park in Caorle; in summer there are markets and fish festivals in the area.

Jesolo or Duna Verde?

They are two opposite, complementary holiday ideas. Duna Verde means quiet, pine forest and a family-sized beach with no nightlife; Jesolo is the riviera of services, 15 km of equipped beach, theme parks and events. If you want peace and nature with children, Duna Verde is ideal; if you want nightlife, shopping and attractions, Jesolo is the right base — with Duna Verde, Porto Santa Margherita and Caorle as a half-day trip about 25 minutes away.

How far is Duna Verde from Jesolo?

About 20-22 km inland, 25-30 minutes by car via Jesolo Paese and Eraclea. In summer the Cortellazzo pontoon bridge (toll) crosses the Piave at the mouth and shortens the trip; it is closed off-season and during floods.
