With a subtle brio and in a popular context, a profile of a late 1800s judge is sketched, who finds himself in the paradoxical situation of investigating a crime of which he himself is the culprit, representing the absurdity of a soul that can no longer recognize an objective reality. The Broken Pitcher therefore mocks the fallacy of human nature and the legal system, with a masterful taste for the grotesque and with a characterization of the characters, by the seven actors on stage, that is both precise and hilarious. Since the Italian language is poorly suited to effectively render the language of peasants, the staging and setting are invigorated, fleshed out, and made more effective thanks to the use of our magical and hilarious Venetian dialect.
